Glenfinnan Brewery

Lochaber,
Scotland.

Brief History.

The Brewery is a small independent 4-barrel / 2-fermenter microbrewery located in the North West Highland village of Glenfinnan, about 15 miles from Fort William. It has a maximum production capacity of 1200 litres / week.
The company was set up in Dec 2005 by three local ex-teachers:
DJ Robertson (Mathematician); Dave Leckie (I.T. specialist) and John Fish (Biologist).
Equipment, supplied by the Lancashire based Porter Brewing Company, was installed in an outbuilding in Glenfinnan in September 2006 and brewing commenced.
The brewery was officially opened in May 2007 by local MP Mr Charles Kennedy.

Our Beers.

All our beers are "Real Ale" (cask/bottle conditioned).
Our beer is a simple live product with no added chemicals, no filtering and no sterilisation.
Presently we brew three beers:

The Standard Ale - 4.2%.
A mid brown, well hopped (bitter) ale brewed using a selection of North American aromatic hops and British Pale and Crystal malts to give it a distinctive "nose" and taste. The name "The Standard Ale" commemorates Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) raising the Jacobite Standard at Glenfinnan on 19 August 1745.
Glenfinnan Gold - 4.0%.
As the name suggests, a yellowish/gold ale brewed with summer in mind from a variety of malts and a blend of Cascade and First Gold hops to give a tangy refreshing bitterness. The name "Gold Ale" reflects both its colour and the £4,000 (present value many millions of £) of gold which went missing near Glenfinnan during the Jacobite rebellion of 1745 - 1746.
Glenfinnan Dark Ale - 5.2%.
Brewed at the end of the year for a more malty and less bitter flavour - with winter in mind.
